Ms. D's Office - Disney Style

If you know me you know that I am a HUGE Disney fan!!!  I would go to
Disney World every year if I could afford it.  No questions asked.  My
favorite time of the year to go is in November and December when everything
is decorated for the holidays.  I love the creativity, the magic,
rides, characters, etc.  It is way more fun now to go with our
two granddaughters (soon to be three with a grandson on
the way!).  So it is very fitting that my office/craft room
is decorated in Disney.

I know, you are probably wondering why the gold drape around the table, right?
Ha!  We just had this room painted blue a couple of months ago and I
did not think to get an extra curtain panel to use as a drape so I
decided to make do with this one.

Our youngest daughter, (Ms. B who turns 23 on Christmas Eve - Happy Birthday!!!),
loves Tinker Bell.  I bought this topper for her several years ago and have been
lucky enough to use it.  However, I am quite sure that this will be the last year
since she now has a house of her own.

Aren't they just adorable?  I could not resist them!!!

And of course, it would not be complete without a
Disney village under the tree!

Several years ago I stumbled upon this Disney piece.  The regular price
was $120.00 and I paid $35.00.  Needless to say I did a happy dance
all the way to the car!!!

I picked up this set from Sam's Club some time ago.

I tied gold lame bows to the chairs for some holiday bling.

Isn't she adorable?  Doesn't she look like she has quite the attitude
with her hands on her hips?!!!!

Take care and have a wonderful holiday season!

Game Room - LSU Tigers Christmas Tree

Good morning!!!  Happy Friday to everyone!!!  I hope you find time today
to take a moment for yourself whether it be a workout, a soak in the tub, or
watching a Christmas movie with your family.
Here are a few photos of our game room.  This is a wreath I made several
years ago.  It was really quite easy.

Yes, that is a helmet on the top of our tree!  Don't you just love it?!!!
It is a little heavy so I have it balanced with the branches.

I really wish I had added one more row of ribbon.
Maybe next year!

This sign says it all.  Everything stops for LSU football.

I decorated this tree with Mr. Jester, Mardi Gras masks, LSU
ornaments, more fleur de lis ornaments, and tassels, etc.

My husband has a collection of LSU Santa statues.

Here are the many golf ornaments we have collected over the years.
Rather than put up another tree I hang them from his golf
shelf near his golf bag and accessories.

A couple more LSU Santa statues.

This is our favorite one.

Can I say "Prep and Landing"?!!!  I love these little elves.  I
bought them this year at Hobby Lobby at 50% off for a total of
$16.00.  I just love them!!!  Since I took this photo
I have added snow around the tree and their feet.  It looks so cute!!!

I really love this picture of Santa saying "shhhhh".  I apologize for the
photo.  There is a lot of glare coming through.  Last year this was
displayed over our entertainment center.  We purchased a
new entertainment center this year so we had to find a new place
to display him.

Here's what it looked like before.........

A couple of fun whimsical hats that our granddaughters
love to play with!!!

Keeping it real...here is my wrapping station.  I am pleased to
say that it is all clean now!  Woo Hoo!!!!

Take care and I hope to see you soon....

Ms. D's Family Room Part 2

Welcome back!
Let me get you a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows
and a couple of cookies to enjoy while continuing the tour of
our family room.
The tree in here is the largest tree in our collection (we have eight trees).
It is nine feet tall and is decorated with a nod to our Southern heritage.
There are magnolias, fleur de lis, angels, glass grapes, tassels, ribbons, bows,
dried items, gold icicles, and three angels.

I purchased three large gold fleur de lis five years ago at Santa's Quarters which is
located in the French Quarters in New Orleans. Yes, I do try my best to go
to every Christmas store I can.  I am very lucky to have a husband that
understands my passion for decorating our home.  Thanks hon!!!

The first thing I do when decorating a tree is make sure the lights are
working.  In this case, they didn't so I had to add new lights.
Once that is done I begin fluffing the tree, from top to bottom.  The large
bows are placed throughout the tree followed by the ribbon to match.
I forgot to add the beautiful patterned ribbon this year!  My bad!!!
I found it in a container after I was finished!  Oh well!!!

The next things I add are the three angels in different sizes.  I place
them in a triangle shape with the small one near the top of the tree,
the medium towards the middle of the tree and the large one near the bottom.

I place simple, large and less expensive ornaments on the
inside branches of the tree.  This gives color and depth to the tree and not all
of the ornaments are hanging on the outside of the tree.

Here is a photo of the largest angel.  She is wired and tucked into the tree.
I then add the magnolia swags and the crystal grapes by attaching them to the branches.

Then it's time for the dried and sparkly pieces with the gold icicles
going on last.  I think I broke at least three of them this year!  :(

As you can see from this photo, there is not much room for a topper so
I put a large bow in its place.

This is one of my favorite views of our family room.  Every morning while
getting dressed for work I turn the lights on on the Christmas tree and
the Santa collection.  I LOVE the ambiance that is created.  As soon as I
get home I turn the lights on again until I go to bed.  I love the way our
home looks this time of year.  Now if it would just get cold enough to
light the fireplace!!!  The temperature is supposed to get into the 30's tonight.
Finally!!!  Living in the South does have its drawbacks!

Thank you for stopping by.....

Ms. D's Family Room Part 1

Welcome back!!!
Grab a few cookies, a glass of egg nog and we will begin our
tour of our family room.

Upon entering the family room there is a collection of Santas to your left.
They come in all different sizes and shapes.  I have been collecting these Santas
for over 25 years.

I bought the tall Santa's hat last year at Cracker Barrel (one of my favorite places)
along with the springy looking Santa!  I picked up the "Believe" star this
year at Hobby Lobby.

Here's a photo of what it looks like at night.

My husband's mother painted this picture of the various Santas at a paint class she
took many years ago.  It was just sitting in her closet so we asked her if we could have it
and she said yes!  We immediately had it framed and it has been holding
a special place above our collection of Santas ever since.  I added
the "Santa Claus is watching" sign two years ago from Etsy.

This Santa is very special to me.  My sister-in-law gave him to me
in appreciation for decorating their new home for their "house warming party"
for Christmas several years ago.  It's hard to tell by the photo but his boots are really nice.
However, the soles are coming apart so for now they are being held together by hot glue!

Several years ago I picked up the large Santa face in Galveston, TX at a shop called
"Christmas on the Strand".  It's a perennial upscale gift and Christmas shop
located on The Strand.   Lucky for me I was fortunate enough to pick it up on sale!  :-)

The Santa with the beautiful garb was a steal I picked up at
Dillards one year when everything was on sale.  I find myself
hunting for another "steal" like him every year!

Thank you for stopping by!

Welcome to Ms. D's foyer!!!

Please come in!!!
Would you like a cup of hot chocolate to sip on while looking around?

The first thing you see upon entering the foyer is Mr. Grinch.
My granddaughters love him!!!

In typical Grinch fashion, he has a sign that says "Knock only if you have presents".
I bought that at Cracker Barrel (I love Cracker Barrel!) a couple of years ago.

In the opposite corner I have a whimsical snowman
I found at Pier One two years ago.

The foyer tree is decorated with various Grinch ornaments
and other whimsical ornaments.  Some of them are souvenirs from
Islands of Adventure in Orlando, FL.

I LOVE this sign "Santa's Workshop".
I purchased it on Etsy last holiday season.

Thank you for stopping by.  Hope to see you again soon!
