First Pool Party of 2015

On Friday, my sweet family was kind enough to send me a photo of them having fun in our pool.  ;-)   The first pool party of 2015.  It was a bit impromptu but those are usually the most fun!  My boss surprised me and let me go early so I crashed their party!  The water was 82 degrees....still a little chilly for the adults but the kids didn't care.

I hadn't made it to the store yet so the only snack I had to offer was the Mickey Mouse Popsicle pops I told you about here.  They were over the moon.  It was adorable when Mr. W was finished with his and he kept telling me "more, more" as he was signing the word.  I really need to order another set so they can have more than one.

On Saturday Ms. A's flag football game was cancelled due to the rain storm.  Poor baby.  This is her second game to be cancelled due to rain.

The hubs and I made a run to Sam's and bought snacks and a beautiful new rug for the patio.  I was looking for the "right" one and there it was for $76.00.  I am so excited to put it out.  We called the kids on our way home and they all showed up shortly to swim.  (We are so blessed to have them close by.)  We had a lot of fun.  Mr. W is loving having snacks poolside.  It is adorable (and I have no photos - kept forgetting my camera all weekend!).  He sits on the edge in the shallow area so his feet can splash in the water as he eats or drinks.

I had the Disney songs playing on Pandora.  One time he came up to me so excited saying maw maw....let it go!  So naturally we all started singing along with the song.  He doesn't like anyone to sing along (with any song) or dance so he gets this serious look on his face and shouts no to all of us.  Of course, we keep singing.  It is so darn cute.  I'll have to get it on video.  His mom says he does it in the car, at home...really everywhere.

On Sunday the hubs and I much to his dismay cleaned out the shed.  The shed houses our yard tools, chair cushions, pillows, pool toys, pool chemicals, and lanterns, etc. I wanted to get things cleaned out and organized.  If you know the hubs, you know that he is very organized and his stuff is ALWAYS in its place.  ALWAYS!!!  Naturally when you reorganize a space (like the shed) it always gets worse before it gets better.  I am a purger.  I love to purge and pass things on that we no longer need to someone that could use it.  I could see he didn't like me questioning why we were keeping something that we had not used in years.  He told me it was his stuff.  It reminded me of trying to clean out the kids toy boxes with them in the room.  Every thing you put in a pile to throw away gets right back in!  I'm happy to say we did a great job and got rid of a lot of junk.

We gave our neighbor some pool toys and a Croquet set similar to this one.

Funny story.  Years ago (Brooke was maybe 6 years old/pre pool) I had a great idea to get a Croquet set for us to play as a family.  Bonding time, right?  Wrong!!!  It wasn't long before we were all fussing and fighting because somebody would cheat or hit the ball really hard and knock us out of the way.  Tempers were flying.  Needless to say it is a fond memory....but not one of the best!!!  I think we played a couple more times after that.  :)

Our neighbors had a birthday/pool party on Sunday so we didn't get a chance to power wash the patio.  (That would have been rude!)   We  have a cold front coming in today so the night temps will drop to the 50's so we won't be swimming this week.  :)  This should give us time to get the power washing done and the new rug out.  I can't wait to see the transformation.

I did manage to watch the movie Heaven is For Real.  I had recorded it back in February but wasn't ready to watch it.  It was really good....definitely a tear jerker.  Connor Corum is adorable.

I finished the first book of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.  I really enjoyed it.  I have started the second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.  I had no idea how easy and fun it would be to read these books.  Are you a Harry Potter fan?  Now I am ready to go back to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Universal Studios Orlando.

How was your weekend?  Did you tackle any projects on your list?

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Take care,

Debbie

  1. That’s so sweet! It looks like the photo of your family’s first pool party that they sent you worked! It was nice of your boss to allow you to leave early, so you could go to them. That must have been so surprising and funny for your kids! Anyway, thanks for sharing! Good day!
