Father's Day Celebration

The banner is from Amanda's Parties to Go

We celebrated Father's Day this past Saturday with a swimming party.  It is really nice now the water is finally warm enough to swim (yes at the end of June, crazy!).

I prepared the meal the hubs requested for his special day:

Roast
Rice, Gravy & Blackeye Peas
Homemade Mashed Potatoes & Corn
Rolls
Brownies

He worked outside cutting the grass and other things.  Look what I caught him doing!!!
Yep....that's a power washer.  My power washer!  I told you about that story here.

He didn't know I was taking a pic of him in action.  :)  So busted!!!  (I told him about it later that night and he laughed.  He said I was doing it for you.  Nice try!)

After he finished up outside, he went to the store to get a few things.  He bought a bouquet of flowers for me and a bunch of balloons that had an awesome balloon in it.  He jokingly said it was because he is so awesome!  I laughed at him and said he was crazy!  Little did I know that he had a plan for the balloons.  He asked Ms. A if she wanted to bring them home to her dad since he is so awesome.  Of course she said yes.

I decorated the table with some new place mats I found at Home Goods.

I thought they were a nice compliment to the rug and mat.

Mr. W loves fire trucks so I picked up this float for him.

Warning!!!  There are a lot of photos ahead.  You have been warned!!!

A couple of pics of Ms. A doing a flip under water.

Who has pretty hair like this under water?

Mr. W is getting acclimated to the water....

Here he is dancing.  We all start laughing when he starts dancing.  If you look real close you can see he is smiling as he is dancing.

Showing us a few more moves.....

The water was nice and warm so he really enjoyed himself.

A few pics of Sweet P....

Her Paw Paw and Uncle Brad were pushing her back and forth in the water.

Sweet pic of Paw Paw and Mr. W.

After swimming for a while, Mr. W asked for Mickey.  I knew what he wanted....Mickey Mouse popsicles!

I have some videos I am going to edit to share with you.  We ended the night watching Jumanji outside at the end of the pool.  I wish I had gotten a photo of Mr. W all laid out in the chaise lounge chair waiting for the movie to start.  He then asked for animal crackers.  These kids are not spoiled in any way at all.  :)

Hope you had a great weekend!

Take care,

Debbie

Meal Planning Menu Monday

Photobucket

Good morning and Happy Monday to you!  I hope you had a great weekend.  Ours was crazy busy but we had a great time.  I hope to have photos ready to share with you later this week.

After cooking so much this weekend, we are going to have a "less is better" menu for this week.  :)  Better for me, right?  Haha!!!  I am very lucky to have a husband that doesn't mind eating sandwiches for dinner.

Monday - Ham sandwiches and chips
Tuesday - Turkey burgers and sweet potato fries
Wednesday - Pancakes and bacon
Thursday - Egg salad sandwiches
Friday - Dinner out
Saturday - Hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, ice cream, etc.

I guess you can call this our "sandwich week".  What do you have on your menu for the week?

Eighteen days and counting until our last day here at work.  I am very excited to see what the future holds for all of us.  It's a very exciting time!

This is the song I am listening to today.....

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Take care,

Debbie

Wrapping Up Our Weekend

On our way home we stopped at one of my favorite places to find home decor stuff, Stine Home.  Their name used to be Stine Lumber but they have since changed it.

Over the years we have bought beautiful Christmas decorations, LSU collectibles, flower pots, banners, gifts, etc.  I love stopping there.  It is rare that I don't find anything.

I fell in love with these pots.  It's hard to see just how big they are in person.  The hubs is making a run to Lake Charles for a claim soon....I guess it is wishful thinking on my part that he will pick them up, right?  :)  After all, we just purchased some items for the pool that weren't cheap.  I'll be sharing those with you in another post.

I really like the "beefiness" of these pots.

I have been looking for a mat for our backdoor for months.  I wanted something that coordinated with the large rug on the patio.  Well I don't have to look anymore!  I came across Sassafras.  It is a mat frame that you can switch out the insert.

I chose the fleur de lis pattern.  I know you are totally surprised, right?

I think it goes really well with the rug.  We are very pleased with our purchase.

I want to thank Shirley (MIL) for hosting us for the weekend.  We had a great time with many, many laughs.  She bought me this "Life is better by the pool" sign.  Funny thing was I was going to purchase one myself as a backup to the one hanging over the French doors.  I don't have to now.

If you ever find yourself in Sulphur, La. be sure and stop by Stine Home.  There's something for everyone.

Take care and have a great week!

Debbie

Jourdan and Dustin's Wedding / Golden Nugget

I absolutely fell in love with the backdrop for Jourdan and Dustin's wedding.  It appeared to be doors or pieces of a fence attached to each other.  I thought the attention to detail was perfect.  Not too much......but just right.

This table was placed in the foyer of the church.  There was a globe in the background for guests to sign instead of the usual book.

Jourdan's 95 year-old great grandmother was the flower girl.  In the program she was described as "a little blue-eyed ball of energy and the sassiest flower girl ever!"  How cute is that?  She was dropping flower petals all the way down the aisle.  So sweet and oh so special.

I was really off this day in taking photos.  There were several that were really blurry.  My biggest disappointment was the photo of the cake was terrible!  Sorry!  I know everyone likes seeing the cake.

This is the best one I have of Boomer walking Jourdan down the aisle.

Her dress was beautiful!

The groom and the groomsmen all wore sandals and the girls wore pink converse.

This seating area was placed right outside the entrance into the reception hall.  It was so sweet and quaint.  Donna (MOB) painted everything.  She has been one busy lady!  I love the antique suitcases.

Jourdan's bridal portrait is so pretty.

The hors d'oeuvres were across the way from the seating area, just outside of the reception hall.  Again, Donna's attention to detail was incredible.  These photos do not begin to do it justice.

I love the way she used a drawer to hold the snack mix.

Here's a photo of the table decorations.  The jars of honey were little gifts for everyone to take home.

I am so sad I don't have a photo of the bride's cake.  It was the new style with no icing on the outside of the cake.  The cake was displayed on top of a chest with lots of fresh flowers dispersed throughout the cake.  It was so perfect!

Much to Boomer's dismay, Dustin is a graduate of Alabama.  Alabama and LSU are huge rivals.  Boomer and his best friends are die hard LSU fans.  It was really funny.  To try and even up the score, Jourdan had the DJ play the LSU fight song as she and her dad walked out onto the dance floor for their father/daughter dance.  The gesture did not go unnoticed.

There were so many good things to eat....crawfish bisque, crawfish pies, boudin, brisket, an assortment of wings, twice baked potatoes, pasta salad, etc.  I can't begin to remember it all.

This piece was placed in the far corner of the reception hall.

I love this idea for a photo booth.  Not only is it less costly but with everyone having cell phones it's perfect.  I love the way the frame hangs and you don't have to hold it while posing for your photo.

After the reception we stayed and helped them pack up everything to take home.  A couple of people suggested we all get together afterwards at the Golden Nugget.  :)  Only two couples showed up, but that was fine, we had a great time without them!

As often as we go to Lake Charles we RARELY go to the casinos.  We are not big gamblers.  We'd rather put the money into our home.

I have been wanting to go to L'auberge, like forever, and we ended up at the Golden Nugget.  How funny is that?  I told the hubs the next time we will take the time to go see both of them in the daylight so we can see the grounds and the golf course.

This amazing light fixture is in the main entrance.  It is beautiful.

It reminds me of the lighting at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

The light fixtures were stunning!

I saw this as we passed by a bar.  I believe it was a martini bar.

We found a table at the Cadillac Mexican Kitchen and Tequila Bar.  Trust me, there were no tequila shots!

We had chicken fajita nachos and queso.  It was delicious!

Walking through the corridors of the hotel....I felt like I was in Vegas.  I couldn't help but snap a photo of The Chocolate Box.

Hope you are having a great week!

Take care,

Debbie
