Backyard Patio Transformation

Last Friday I worked really hard to transform our backyard patio.  It was a hot and humid day and I was determined to get everything cleaned up and in its place.  :)  #patiotransformation

Here are a couple of pics of what it looked like before I started.

The day before I had patched up the fire truck in two places.  I was so happy I was able to save it.   Or so I thought.  I put it up in the shed and called it a day all the while patting myself on the back for fixing it.  Here's a pic I shared on Facebook of it fixed.

The next morning I went out to the shed and found a deflated fire truck.  :(  I was so bummed.  I tried to find the holes but couldn't so he is now in the trash.

I put the rug back in front of the french doors, cleaned the glass on the doors and cleaned the furniture.  I don't put the cushions out until we are ready to use them.  That way they stay clean and pretty all year round.

While I was working hard, the Polaris was doing its part to clean the pool.

Over the last two months I have seen lots and lots of lizards go in and out of this rug.  If you know me, you know I can't stand lizards.  I was waiting for the hubs to unroll it for me and shoo off the lizards.  Well....my helper has been too busy so I decided to grit my teeth and do it myself.  Here is what I posted on Instagram and Facebook.

"We all have fears in life.  One of mine happens to be lizards.  Our backyard is abundant with lizards.  I am putting our patio back together and need to unroll this rug.  I am quite sure there are lizards inside.  If you hear a really, really loud scream it is only me coming face to face with my fears."

"What a great lesson insour fears in our minds are bigger than real life.  There were no lizards!!!"
One of my friends from high school told me it was because she was praying for me.  How sweet is that?  Thank you Amy!

Do you see that metal cross on the coffee table/ice chests?  I didn't know where I was going to put it.  I walked around with it in my hand and on a whim decided to put it in the pot of the plant on the side table.  I also moved one of the palm plants behind the other chair against the windows.  I think it looks so much better now that the plants are further apart.  Don't you?

Can you see the cross in this photo?  I love the way it looks.

I want to give a shout out to the hubs for helping me hang the curtains.  I tried to do it myself but was unable to remove the caps off of the rods so he did it for me.  I had toyed with the idea of not using the curtains as they are faded but I decided to go ahead and use them for at least one more year.  They look so much better since I washed them.  I want to get some sort of rope or something else to use as tiebacks in place of the ones I made out of fabric.

We had originally bought these two pieces of art work to hang on the shed over the pumps.   While moving things around to clean, I hung the float sign here and fell in love with it.  All I did was hang it on the hooks for the towels (we never use it to hold towels).

I really wanted the Backyard Bar picture to be under the patio so this was the only place to hang it.  It turns out we love it here.  The colors match so well.

I love having a clean patio.

We love sitting and eating out here now that everything is so clean.

Have you started cleaning up your outdoor spaces?

Wishing you a blessed day,

  2. It's amazing what some small upgrades will do to breathe new life into an old space. I love the rug and the signage that you set up. It looks so cute! I too have a fear of small crawling animals, be it bugs, lizards, whatever. I can't stand them. Great work bringing this space into the modern era that the whole family can enjoy!

    1. So nice to meet someone who shares my fear of lizards, too. I keep telling myself they are my friend and I am probably scaring them more with my scream every time one surprises me. Thank you for the compliments on our patio space. I find it exciting to decorate different areas of our home. Thanks for stopping by!
