Holiday Home Tour - Game Room / Office

Welcome back to our Holiday Home Tour featuring the hub's office/game room.  I am so glad you were able to get here before the rain started.  Are you are as excited as I am that we have a cold front  coming today?  I'll take temps in the 50's over the 80's any day.

As you can see my husband is a die hard LSU fan.

I came across this video of the 2013 LSU football team singing Christmas carols.  It's a little bittersweet as Les Miles is singing along with the players.

For those of you that are new here, this room was recently remodeled.  Here are pics from last year's Christmas.  I am so happy I was able to relentlessly fight convince the hubs to redo this room before the holidays.  I love the way it has turned out.

It is always so much fun to display the collectibles we only see at this time of the year.

Do you see the hanging ornament?  OMG!!!  It drives me crazy because I can NEVER get the little ornament inside the snow globe to sit right!

The hubs has had the stuffed tigers and football for several years now.

Rather than add one more tree to our collection, I display his golf ornaments by hanging them on his shelf above his golfing stuff.

Ta da!  This year I added the ornaments from the Mardi Gras tree we had in the back bedroom so it is full of ornaments.  I can't wait to show you what I did in there!

"We interrupt this marriage for LSU Football".

Need I say more?!!!

Brooke gave this to her dad last week.  It is part of his Christmas gift.  She found it while she was in Dallas for a week getting training for her job.  She and Brad are in the process of building their home so rather than store it until Christmas he scored his gift early!  We are in the hunt for something similar or complimentary to go on the other side of the bar.  Please let me know if you know of anything about this size that would look good on this wall.  He is a man on a mission.  :)

I reworked the wreath from last year.  I didn't have much ribbon left over from the tree so I cut it into smaller pieces to make it look fuller.  You can see a pic of the old one here.

I really didn't have a clue what I was going to do with the boa.  At the last minute I decided to drape it on the shelf.  I love the way it turned out.  It adds more color and sparkle to the Santas.

I've been good....have you?

Here's a look back into the room from the hallway.  It is so exciting to see this room so clean and ready for the holidays.  I assure you it didn't look this way on Monday.  I had gifts and wrapping paper all over the place.

I hope you enjoyed your visit.  It looks like the rain has passed and the temperature has dropped a few degrees (only four but I'll take it).

Before I close I have to tell you a funny story that took place yesterday.  Our heating and air contractor came by around 2:30 p.m. to check our furnace and make sure it was working properly.  Everything checked out okay and worked as it should.  Not like we'll be needing it anytime soon.  Later that afternoon I had taken some frozen chicken breasts out of the freezer to thaw for me to grill.  A couple of hours later I decided to go ahead and grill them rather than wait until today.  It was dark outside and the air was heavy with moisture and not a lot of wind.  Half way through grilling the chicken I was in the hallway cleaning up the insulation that had came down from the attic.  I noticed a smell like something was burning.  I immediately checked the decorations in the middle bedroom and the back bedroom.  I turned them off as a precaution in case something was wrong.  I quickly go to the hubs who is watching his shows in the bedroom and tell him I smell smoke.  I was concerned that maybe something had caught fire in the attic (remember the guy had been over earlier that day.)

So he opens up the attic and the smell is much stronger.  I give him a flashlight so he can look at things the light can't reach.  Honey, he is up there for quite.a.while.  Praise God he did not find anything and comes down looking a bit perplexed.  Finally, he makes the comment maybe it is the grill.  So we go outside and discover the smoke is going up into the soffit of the house into the attic.  That was what we were smelling!  That's what I get for grilling so late!

So a little later I go to flip the chicken.  Keep in mind I DO NOT like roaches, especially tree roaches.  Unfortunately our neighbor's tree has large tree roaches and they come into our yard.  I have the large spotlight just a blazing so it will scare them away, right?!  Can you believe one came right up to my toe and touched it?  I screamed and quickly went inside.  I told the hubs he would have to get the chicken when it was done as I was not going back outside!  All he could do was shake his head and laugh.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  Tomorrow we are going to watch the rivalry game between LSU and Florida.  Fingers crossed LSU wins so he will be in a good mood to decorate the outdoors afterwards.  :)

We have seven more gifts to buy and wrap and we are done.  Should I say I am done? :)  This includes the grandkids Christmas and birthdays.  Woo hoo!!!

Take care and may God bless you,

xoxoxo

    1. Katrin, thank you for stopping by. I really appreciate your kind words. Our game room/office is made up of a fourth bedroom and a formal living room that was never used. We just redid this room right before decorating for the holidays. I am so glad you liked it!

  3. A team-based room is hard to pull-off, but you did it so perfectly! Go LSU!
