Bringing Our Little Slice of Paradise Back to Life

On Tuesday the weather was gorgeous.  Simply.gorgeous.  It was a perfect day to tackle one of the many tasks/projects on my list to bring our little slice of paradise back to life.  For my first project, I chose to stain the partition we have to hide the pool equipment.  The box at the bottom of it stores the rings, frisbee, and other small pool toys.

As you can see from the photo below it was in pretty bad shape.  My goal was to give it new life.

The top half was in much better shape than the bottom half.

Here is a before of the top half.

Here is a work in progress of the top half.  You can see how much better it looks with only one coat of stain.  I chose Minwax Wood Finish Penetrating Stain in the Jacobean 2750.  I love the color.  It was exactly what I wanted.  :)

The part of the wood that was most worn turned out really dark.  Almost black.  The cover of the box came out a little dark but I am okay with it.  I love the fresh look.  I will apply a clear coat to help it repel the rain.  Hopefully, it will look this way until next year.  :)

While I was out there, I trimmed a few plants of their dead limbs.

This one was one gnarly mess.

One of my tasks/projects is to repaint these pots.  You can see in the photo below where it is peeling off.

I was quite happy to see new growth making its way up.

I have so much more left to do.  However, it is so exciting to "refresh" everything.

Do you have any tasks/projects you are looking forward to tackling?

I hope you have a wonderful Thursday!!!

Take care,

xoxoxo

Debbie

  1. Your entire home is beautiful, but I especially love your outdoor space! I'm looking forward to getting our flower beds ready to plant. Love this time of year! I'm curious to find out what you have growing in your pot with the trellis?

    1. Hello JC and thank you for stopping by. I truly appreciate your kind words. We have hot pink bougainvillea in the pots in front of the shed. I'm seriously considering replacing them with something new. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
