Memorial Day Celebration

I want to say thank you and God Bless you to all of the U.S. servicemen and women for all of the sacrifices you make for our great country.  We are so proud of all you do.  Thank you.

Here are a few photos of some of the decorations in the back yard.  I am so disappointed that I forgot to take some of the front yard.  :-(  It looked so good!

I used various sizes of the American flag and placed them in different places around the pool and the patio.  I had purchased them at Hobby Lobby, Dollar Tree and Big Lots.

I picked up these cling-on's for the grandkids to play with on the door.  Needless to say, it did not take long for my grandson to take apart the "H". :-)  They really enjoyed playing with the letters.  These also came from Big Lots.

I've had these pinwheels for years.  I imagine that I picked them up at Hobby Lobby or Big Lots.  They look really nice spinning in the sun.  Cheap decor!

I've had these place mats so long now that I've forgotten where I've gotten them from....maybe Pier 1?  Same goes for the margarita glasses.  I believe they came from Pier 1.  I hope you had a nice holiday with your family.  Thanks for stopping by......

So You Think You Can Dance

One of my favorite shows is back on for its eleventh season.  SYTYCD!!!!!  I love this show.  I admire the strength, courage, and determination these dancers have to achieve their goals.  They truly love to dance.

One of the dancers that really stood out for me last night was Megan Marcano.  Megan is from Houston, Tx. Whoot, whoot!!!  She is a very talented dancer and gorgeous to boot! One would automatically think this girl has it all.

Houston's Megan Marcano lines up at the New Orleans auditions for the 11th season of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.

Surprisingly, Megan has been taking care of herself since she was twelve years old, relying on the help of friends, co-workers and teachers.

Go Megan!!!  All the way to the end!!!!

Blended

Blended

Last night the hubby and I went to the movies to see Blended.  A coworker had seen it this past weekend and highly recommended that we see it.  She said her family loved it so much that they plan on buying the movie as soon as it is available for purchase.  The hubs was a little leery, thinking this was going to be a "dud".  He hadn't liked the last couple of Adam Sandler's movies and thought this one would fall under the same category.

Boy was he wrong.  We loved it!!! We laughed nearly the entire movie.  I'm talking LAUGH OUT LOUD!!!  Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler were great together.  The supporting cast was hilarious and the music was awesome.  There were moments we were laughing so hard, moments of strong emotion, and other times we were "tearing up".  If you are a parent, you will certainly be able to relate to this movie.

You will leave the theater wanting to plan a trip to South Africa!

Mosquito Magic

First of all, let me say that I am not being paid for this post.  This is the time of the year we spend more time outdoors grilling and hanging out around the pool enjoying our gorgeous weather.  Living in the South, outdoor protection from flying insect pests has its challenges.  I am sure you have heard the Texas State Bird is the Mosquito, right?  (just kidding!)

Many people have been known to use a bug zapper and other home made concoctions to eliminate unwanted pests such as these mosquitoes.  Lucky for us, Mrs. B's husband (fiancee at the time) introduced us to Mosquito Magic® Crystals.

Mosquito Magic Crystals 2 Pack! Shake the crystals out over an outdoor area to create a flying pest free zone!

All I do is pop open the top on the plastic dispenser and shake out the Mosquito Magic® Crystals around the edges of the pool area an hour before we plan to go out.  I also shake out crystals around our front door area so when guests come over the mosquitoes aren't fighting them to come inside.  In case you are wondering, I have had an application last as long as a couple of weeks, depending on how much rain we have had during that time frame.

It's Five O'Clock Somewhere

I'd like to start this post with a shout out to my hubby for going to four different Dollar Tree stores to get 12 of these beautiful margarita glasses for me.  Thank you babe!!!  I really appreciate the gesture and you.

Our youngest daughter (Mrs. B) told us that she had seen these colorful margarita glasses at the Dollar Tree.  Can you believe that?  And they only cost a dollar!!!  These glasses are freezable double-wall glasses that hold 14 ounces of your favorite drink of choice.  They are made of melamine so they are perfectly safe for lounging around the pool.  They will go perfectly with my new Margaritaville frozen concoction maker that I got for my birthday.

Anyone for a margarita?  It's 5 o'clock somewhere.......

Welcome to Life By the Pool.....It's Just Better!!!

I'd like to thank my good friend Nelly for the gift of this blog.  I am so excited to have my own little corner of the blogosphere (is that even a word?).  I  look forward to sharing my many passions with you.

Here is a glimpse of what Easter looked like inside our home for 2014.  Beware!  There are quite a few pics!  Grab a drink of choice and come on in!

I'd like to wish all of you mothers a very happy Mother's Day!  My prayers go out to those of you that have either lost a child or are trying to conceive.

Hugs,
Debbie

BLOGGER!

Debbie has been such a HUGE help in encouraging, pushing and nagging (j/k!) Hubby and I with decorating our Master Bedroom & Bathroom (Visit Nelly & her Nerd for a few pictures) that it honestly would have NEVER gotten done without her input and expertise.  We absolutely LOVE - I repeat LOVE - how it has turned out and have no idea how we would ever repay her. (knowing she would never accept anything to begin with)

Debbie has always told me that she wanted to start a blog - a place where she can share her projects, decorating and thoughts.  So the only way I could think to repay her was to setup her own little space on the internet where she can share anything and everything she wants.  We actually attempted to start a joint blog - Nelly & Ms. D - last year but were terrible at keeping it updated. (hence the older posts)

Debbie ~ This is my small way of thanking you for all of your help in getting our bedroom and bathroom decorated.  We sooooooo appreciate it more than words can say!!

Enjoy the new blog!
