Weekend Recap

A week ago Friday night, I invited Mr. W to stay over for a slumber party.  I've been having them over, one at a time, so I can spend alone time with each one.  It has been so much fun.  They aren't fighting to be heard over the other and you can give them your undivided attention.  :)

Warning!  Lots of cuteness ahead!

We started our afternoon off with a visit to the grocery store.  As we were passing through the deli/bakery section he shouted "ooh".  I stopped and asked what was he so excited about.  He told me about the pretty cupcake (decorated for a birthday) so we went to get one.  He picked out his favorite colors and off we went.  I didn't get a pic of the cupcake.  I will say he was very disappointed in the way it tasted.  :(

Mr. W chose Chick-fil-a for dinner.  It is his favorite.

I am so proud of how far Mr. W has come playing in the pool.  At the beginning of the summer, he had to wipe his face every time it got wet with water.  :)  Every.single.time.  Now he intentionally puts his face in the bubbles so it will get wet.

A swim wouldn't be complete without a Mickey Mouse popsicle.

One of the bubblers went spastic.  It happens every now and again.

He thought it was pretty cool.

Waiting for it to happen again.

He has figured out there are other uses for the Mickey Mouse holder.  Like insert it into the noodle...

marvel at how it floats...

and use it as a vessel to hold and carry water.

I love this pic of him looking at the water he just poured.

I was switching back and forth between two cameras.  The G16 (use every day) and the Canon Rebel XTi EOS (dslr - a manual camera).  The colors are much brighter on the G16 (I was shooting in automatic on the G16).

I can't believe he is floating on his back on his own.  I tried really hard to teach him at the beginning of summer and he would have nothing to do with it.  I guess it's all in their own timing.  :)

He loves to turn on the pool light and see it change colors.

Early Saturday morning we were back in the pool.  My son-in-law Brad and his brother were over to install the lights on the pergola.

Brad's brother brought one of his sons Mr. J.  Mr. J has a twin brother that was staying over at a friend's house.  The girls and the twins consider theirselves cousins.  It is really cute.  They love each other so much!

Mr. J was very happy when Ms. A finally got there after her basketball game.

They had contests to see who could hold their breath the longest.  Mr. W hasn't learned this so he floated on his back looking all cool with his Paw Patrol goggles on.  :)

Mr. J taught Mr. W how to make a burrito with the float.

Here is Brad and his brother working on the lights and installing the outlets.  Let me just say it was one hot day.  The temp was 98 degrees with a heat index of 108.  Thanks to the neighbors tree, we spent almost all of our time in the shade.

We love the new lights.

I invited Ms. A to stay over on Monday night.  We watched several Star Wars movies.  She is a die hard Star Wars fan...since preschool.  I promised her we would watch all of the movies and she is making me stick to my word.  Ha!  I believe we have watched 3, maybe 4 movies so far.

That night we went to a class at Painting With a Twist.  We had so much fun.  We want to go again.  Here's mine....

and here is hers.

They handed out tickets for door prizes.  She tried to give me her ticket and I told her to keep it because she was going to win.  The first number they called out was hers.  You should have seen how happy she was to win.  It was a pen disguised as an artist brush.  Really cute.

Hope you are having a great day.  Stay cool and hydrated.  It's a bit warm out there!

Weekend Recap

We had a nice and quiet weekend.  Nothing exciting, just did things around the house that needed to be done.  Saturday I spent most of my time (like 8 hours in the backyard) watering plants, trimming them, sweeping the patio, etc.  I like to have everything "prettied up" before I lay out or swim.  It makes me feel better.  Then while I am floating in the water I make a mental note of what needs to be done.  I know I'm crazy.  I just can't help it.  :)

After I finished my chores I laid on the chaise taking in the view.

Lucky for me God was showing off his artistry.  The blue sky and white clouds looked like a beautiful painting.  Do you see anything in the shape of the clouds?  I think it looks like an outline of two faces?

I swam 50 laps (there and back is one lap) and did 200 crunches in the water.  And yes I was feeling it on Sunday morning.

I love this time of day when the sun is reflecting on the water and the fence.  I've tried several times to capture it on my camera to no avail.  I won't stop trying.  :)

The rest of the weekend was spent preparing for the week.  Things like grilling for the week, laundry, working on posts, etc.

I also recorded lots of Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel Countdown to Christmas.  There are only 166 days 'til Christmas.  You have been warned!!!

Hope you have a great week...

Weekend Recap

Good morning and happy Monday to you!  I hope you all had a good weekend.  We worked on our "to do" list and managed to get a few things done.

Here's an update on the coping that was replaced around the pool.  We went with the brown walnut Travertine for the coping.  We chose a one inch coordinating glass tile to cover the exposed area that was previously covered with the original coping.

Here's a before photo to refresh your memory.

We are very excited with the new look.  Even more so with the fact that this issue will be done with for good.  There will be no more worrying about whether or not the white calcium deposits spots will return.  Woo hoo!  Here's a photo of what the spots looked like.  It didn't matter what they did to alleviate the situation these bad boys always showed up.

We are very happy with the new look.

After giving so much thought in choosing the accent tiles, we are very pleased with the way the smaller tiles coordinate with the original tiles.  We wanted something that would blend in like it has always been here.

We removed the curtains from the patio.  They were so gross and covered with so much dust.  You may be wondering why I waited for the hubs to do this project.  I have shared with you before my fear of lizards.  Honey, have we got lizards, geckos, whatever you want to call them.  They love to "hang out" in the panels of the curtains.  :(

So picture this.  He is taking down the curtains which requires a good bit of strength to slide the end caps off of the rods.  I fold them up and stack them to be washed.  All the while I am folding the curtains I am shaking them really hard to make sure there are No Lizards!  OMG!  One goes to hop off and gets on my hand! I start screaming because it is on me.  Not a happy moment for me!  He's looking over at me like are you crazy because I was embarrassing him.  :)  Our new neighbor was having a pool party yes I was so jealous because our pool is a hot mess!  I gave him a look and kept going.  There was one more incident and then I stopped.  I let him fold them and carry them to the washing machine.  I have my fingers and toes crossed that no lizards pop out when I go to wash them today.  If you hear someone screaming it will most likely be me.

Isn't it crazy how plain it looks without the curtains?  I can't imagine ever going without them again.

We changed out the artwork over the fireplace.  I love having color again.

I am changing things up and moving things around.  This large candle holder has always been in the main bath.  I've always been tempted to move it in the past but I was so happy with it where it was I didn't move it.  This time I stepped outside of the box and moved it.  I have to be honest with you.  I didn't think I'd leave it here, but so far so good.

Here's what it looks like in the main bath.  I moved the welcome plaque and added the candle.  I always felt good about burning a candle (with it inside the glass globe) when the kiddos were here.  Now I will burn the candle when they aren't here.  That way I am not worrying about whether or not they are tempted to play with the fire.  You never know with kids.

We rehung the "Home Sweet Home" plaque in the foyer.

I love the way it goes so well with the chest.  Don't you love it when things come together like this?  I know I do.

I'd love to hear what you did over the weekend.  Did you get any projects off of your "to do" list?

I hope you have a great day today.  I have an interview this morning, some consulting work to do, and I need to go to the grocery store for a few things.  The kiddos are coming over this afternoon for a stay over and I want to be prepared.  We are going to have the Penne Pie for dinner.  Yumm!  This is my new "go to" dish.  It is so easy and so darn good.  I shared the recipe with you here.  This will be my third time to make it.  I've changed it up a little by adding more sauce and extra cheese.  You really should try it.  I think your family will love it.  And you, my friend, will feel like a rock star!

Take care and see you soon!
