Friday Night Date Night

Happy Monday!!!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  Ours started out with an impromptu date by the pool.  Even the hubs didn't know about it.  :)

I've been taking every opportunity to spend time in the pool before it gets too cool to swim.  So on Friday night I brought out all of the lanterns, candles and music for an evening of fun.  Even if it turned out to be for a party of one.  :)

The hubs has been busier than ever since Hurricane Harvey made his way thru the state of Texas so I can't expect him to go along with all of my plans.

I love being out in the pool at night.  The stars are so pretty and bright and there is no need for sunscreen.  Believe it or not the tan I have is from working out in the yard, not laying by the pool.  I'm not a fan of baking in the sun.

This was the first time I used the candle holders we made out of the left over cedar from the pergola.  I really needed 4 inch wide candles so these look a little funny.

The hubs came out after dinner and joined me for a swim.  At one point, he pointed out a possum that was crossing the top of our back fence.  I was so glad the possum kept right on going and didn't make a pitstop in our yard.  :)

We sat on both sides of the pool taking note of things we want to do (i.e. install the yard lights, hang the extra garden lights near the tanning deck, and hang the Edison lights around the pergola).

The best part was we had everything we needed right there at home.  Cold beer in the fridge, candles and lanterns, speakers for music, and warm water to swim.  It doesn't get any better than that.

I'd love to hear ideas from you of what you like to do for a date night?  Dinner and a movie?  A walk in the park?  A drive in the country?  Dancing?  Or a movie night at home?

Hope you are having a fabulous Monday and an even better week.  I've got to get dinner on the grill...we are having grilled chicken and green beans.

Take care,

Swimming With Friends

All summer long, when Sweet P was over and swimming, she'd ask me to call Miss J to come over and swim with her.  I would tell her we had to plan ahead so Miss J and her mom could join us for some fun.  So I surprised her and called Nellie and we made arrangements for them to get together on Labor Day weekend.  Needless to say, they were so excited when they found out they were getting together.

The latest thing Sweet P loves to do is balance on top of the float.  I must say she has gotten really good at it.

How cute are they?  It is so hard to believe they are seven years old.

Miss J is into competitive cheer and was showing Sweet P how to do stunts.  Here is Sweet P on Nelly's shoulders.

I picked up Little Caesar's pizza and cheese bread for lunch.

Can you guess what they had for dessert?  If you said a Mickey Mouse Popsicle, you are right!!!

Here they are dancing for us.

It was so nice to get together and visit.  We all had a great time.

Hope you have a great day!!!

Happy Happy Friday!!!

Hello there and happy Friday to you!  I imagine you have a weekend filled with lots of plans to celebrate Mother's Day.  Ours will be pretty low key.  We are all going out to eat on Saturday afternoon.  This should help us avoid the crowds.  :)

I realize these aren't the usual photos I share with you.  However, I have to document this chapter in our life.  We have had our pool for 4 1/2 years now and this is the first time it has ever turned green!  Yuck!!!  Any one that knows the hubs will never believe this is our pool.  But it is!!!  We can't believe it either!

For a couple of weeks now, the pool company has been here tearing out the coping, and sanding concrete...just making a hot mess of everything.  The brown walnut Travertine has been laid and the new 1 inch tiles are in.

Today they will remove the water from the pool (most all of it), remove the grout around the old tiles, re-grout it, acid wash the pool and restore it to its beautiful blue self.  I can't wait.

The next thing we will do is fill the pool with water, replace the filters with new ones and start adding the salt and other chemicals we use to maintain the pool.

Everything is so dusty and dirty.  I've already washed the curtains so they are ready to be rehung once everything is done.

We will be sealing the travertine so it will have a slightly darker, wet look.  We can't wait!

I am looking forward to spending many, many hours out here...when it's nice and clean!

Have a great day!!!

What's Happening Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!!!  I hope you are having a great Wednesday morning.  Things are loud and dusty here.  :)  The pool company is here working hard to remove the coping around the pool.  Why you ask?  When we had the pool installed we chose to have our coping stained.  It was beautiful!  Until the calcium deposits started surfacing leaving white spots.  Our pool company has done several things over the last four years to alleviate the problem without success.  So today is the first day of construction (or should I say destruction) to put this problem in the past.

Once the coping has been removed they are going to install brown walnut Travertine.  We are so excited to see the new look.

In the meantime everything is a hot mess.  However, it is so exciting to know we will never have to deal with those annoying spots again!!!

Here's to wishing you a wonderful Wednesday!!!

Take care,

Just Call Me the Pool Girl

We had so much wind and rain the last couple of days it made a mess in the pool.  So yours truly pulled out the big guns and cleaned it right up.  :)

These photos do not really do the mess in the pool justice.

I pulled out this bad boy to help me get the job done.  It is a P955 Polaris.  It is the top of the line 4WD Robotic Pool Cleaner that features the easy lift system, motion-sensing handheld remote, dirty canister indicator, and Vortex Vacuum technology for best-in-class cleaning performance.  In other words, it is the Cadillac of pool cleaners.  :)

The hubs bought it last year and we love it!!!

You plug the system into the wall, attach the cord to the main board, and gently place the Polaris in the pool.  It will gradually sink to the bottom of the pool.  Once it reaches the bottom I press the start button and off it goes.

It takes about 1 1/2 hours to clean our pool and the side walls.  Once the Polaris is finished cleaning the pool all you do is press the lift button and the system climbs the wall for you to grab it and remove it from the pool.  As you are lifting the Polaris out the water is emptying out of the Polaris so it is not heavy with water.

I used the net to fish out the branches so they would not get caught up in the Polaris.  I also skimmed the leaves off of the top of the pool.  The next thing I did was sweep off the tanning deck area so the dirt would go to the bottom of the pool and the Polaris would pick it up.

I think we did a really good job, don't you?  It was so tempting to just get in but it was 55 degrees and the wind was blowing 25 mph.  I think it would have been way too cold for me!!!

I guess I could always become a pool girl, right?!!!  Ha ha!!!

Hope you are having a great day!

Take care,
