Happy Anniversary Babe

Today is our 31st wedding anniversary!!!
We have been together for 33 years.
Time sure has flown by!

#31years
#anniversary

God definitely knew what he was doing when he matched us together.  I won't say it has always been easy because I would be lying.  After all, when you put two people together that are both stubborn and strong-willed sparks are going to fly.  And fly they did!!!  Oh if we only had a snapshot of the many times we each stood our ground, toe-to-toe and fought for what we wanted/believed.  Neither one of us backing down.  :)  Things were never boring!

We have been blessed with two amazing daughters, two awesome son-in-laws, and three precious grandchildren.  And I can't forget four grand "doggies".

Our passion has been and continues to be decorating our home and making it all that it can be.
We have always agreed on the end results, we just had different ideas of how to get there.  I have learned to share my ideas of what I want to do or where I want to go (travel wise), give him time to think about it...and before you know it he's totally onboard.  If that doesn't work, I get one of the kids to make a suggestion.  :)  He has taught me patience.

Every single thing we have gone through has made us the couple we are today and I wouldn't change any of it.  We are in the "sweet spot" of our relationship.

We get each other.
We have way less disagreements.  Rarely do we get upset.
We support each other.
We make our dreams come true...even the big ones!!!

I am so grateful for my "hubs".

Love you babe!!!  Here's to 30 more years together!

Hope you have an amazing day!!!

Our Anniversary Celebration

Our anniversary weekend was pretty quiet with a lot of rain.  :)  Needless to say, the plans I had in my mind didn't turn out quite the way I wanted them to.  But that's life right?  :)

My original plan was to have a staycation poolside.  I had visions of decorating with fresh flowers, candles, an outdoor movie, dining al fresco, and a bottle of champagne (for me).  I shared my vision with the hubs, which being a guy, wondered what was I thinking?  I've been known to ignore his comments and do my own thing so I didn't let him discourage me.

However, mother nature had other plans for our my weekend.  The weather forecast showed rain starting at noon on Saturday.  So I decided I'd better come up with a Plan B.  Plan B was to decorate the table with red roses (I bought myself), rose petals, our beer steins from our wedding reception and fleur de lis glasses from Brooke's wedding.

I picked up a small cake at HEB.  It was vanilla with butter cream icing.

I used rhinestones from my decorating stash to add a little bling.

These roses were so fresh and beautiful.  The best part is they were only $6.99 a dozen at HEB.  What a deal!

One thing I've learned, after being married for 29 years, is to manage my expectations.  If I want roses, I buy roses.  I don't leave that to chance.

I pulled out red chargers to add more color.

We had grilled shrimp and baked potatoes for dinner.  I was so busy with the shrimp I totally forgot the green beans.  :)

Everything was so good!

The hubs was very surprised to see these steins.  Our names are engraved on them.

We had 2.5 inches of rain on Saturday.  I was so glad I had a Plan B to fall back on.  All in all, it was an okay weekend.  Let's just say it won't go down in history as one of my favorite weekends.  Gotta
keep it real.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Take care,

Our Anniversary

Today is our 29th wedding anniversary.  I am so happy and grateful we found each other.  Like all couples, we have had our ups and downs and a whole lot of fun in between.  I hope we have at least 30 more years together to do all the things we want to do.

We are blessed to have two beautiful daughters, two wonderful son-in-laws, and three precious grandkids.  Life is good.

We are celebrating our anniversary with a staycation in our fabulous backyard.

Happy Birthday!!!

Today is a very special day.  It is our oldest daughter Tiffani's birthday.  Tiffani is the mother of Ms. A, Sweet P and Mr. W.  She is an awesome mom with a crazy schedule.  She is an RN, specialized in NICU (retired for now), homeschooling her three precious kids.  She is very fun loving and is always laughing.   I think she has the patience of Jobe.

#happybirthday

The photo above is one of my favorites.  It was taken at the gift shop of the ET ride at Universal Studios on December 14, 2001.  Tiffani, Brooke, Amanda (friend of Tiffani's) and I had gone to Disney World and Universal Studios to celebrate her graduating from college.  The hubs chose to stay behind.  We had a wonderful time!

Tiffani shares her birthday with her grandmother and my MIL Shirley.  Shirley is very loving, kind and giving.  Her family is very important to her.  I could not ask for a better MIL.

We wish you both a very happy birthday!!!

Love,

Debbie

Weekend Recap

We had a nice and quiet weekend.  It was our 28th anniversary on Saturday.  We celebrated by going out to dinner at Gringo's on Friday afternoon.  I'm always up for some Tex Mex.
#lovequeso

For dessert we had cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory.  I had the red velvet and the hubs had the salted caramel.  They were delicious!

The hubs gave me these beautiful flowers.  The pics do not do them justice.  They are beautiful!!!

We laid low this weekend and watched lots of movies.  Just to name a few:

CIA
Me Before You
The Choice

There were many more...I've forgotten the names!

I ordered my first Christmas gift this weekend.  Crazy 8 had a crazy sale on Friday so I ordered Mr. W lots of cute clothes.  My goal every year is to purchase at least one Christmas gift by the end of July.  This way I can get a start on my shopping so I can finish early.  Gotta have time for all the decorating I do.  :)

Hope you are having a good week.  I can't believe it is already Wednesday and I am just now posting.    Where has this week gone?

Take care,

It was a very hot day...just like today.  :)

I am so happy God had us cross paths to be on this journey through life together.  We have been blessed in so many ways.

This year we are celebrating our anniversary with a staycation.  There is nothing I want more than to be home spending time with my man lounging around the pool, watching movies and celebrating our life together.

Cheers to many more years together!!!

Love you hubs!!!  May we have many, many more years to come!!!

Love,

Debbie

Weekend Recap

Can you guess which towel is mine?
We had a really busy and fun weekend.  We kept Mr. W on Friday night so he wouldn't have to get up early on Saturday morning to go pick up Sweet P at Bela Karolyi's Camp in Huntsville.  I was supposed to ride with them to pick her up until I found out it was recommended we get there at 8 a.m. even though the doors weren't going to open until 11 a.m.  I didn't want to wait outside in the sweltering heat so I offered to keep Mr. W.  I don't know about you but I sweat profusely and it's not pretty.  One thing I am not a fan of is doing my makeup and hair just to go outside and melt.  Trust me, it's not pretty!

When they arrived at Karolyi's Camp, Tiffani and Justin were floored to see Bela Karolyi driving the mule around with the girls luggage.

This sweet girl loves gymnastics and had a great time at camp.  Especially getting to meet Bela himself.  There is talk of maybe having another camp next year so she is already asking to go.  :)
#lovekarolyiscamp

Brooke had taken Mr. W for a playdate with one of her friend's daughter, Olivia.  Olivia is two and Mr. W is three.  This was the first time they met.  Aren't they adorable?

I mean what kid doesn't love bubbles?  #lovebubbles

When they were finished, Brooke brought him over for the night.  Mr. W and I swam in the pool.

He had his favorite popsicle.  #lovemickeymousepopsicles  #lovehawaiianpunch

He makes sure he doesn't miss a drip.  He still hasn't mastered drinking the juice in the bottom.  Can you see it on his nose?  He always gets it on his nose.

I can't say this enough...if you want to be a rock star parent or grandparent get the Mickey Mouse popsicle holders.  You won't regret it.

We went inside and Brooke made him some popcorn while I ate dinner.  (Brooke is an awesome aunt.)  He wanted to watch the movie Lion King.  #lovelionking

I kept asking him if he was ready to go to bed and he said no.  Finally, he looked over at me, smiled, and said "I need to go to bed".  Just like that!  I tucked him in bed and told him I was going to wash my face and I'd be right back.  He was passed out in less than five minutes and face planted in the pillow. He was so tired.

On Saturday, he was following me around in the kitchen.  He looked up at me and said "maw maw, you are my best friend".  Yes, I totally melted and told him he was my best friend.  The hubs heard him from his office and smiled.

We all went out to eat on Saturday evening to celebrate Father's Day and so Sweet P could recap her experience at being away at camp for the first time.  She had so much to say and show us.

On Sunday the hubs and I had a much needed quiet day at home.   We grilled and hung around the pool.  It was awesome.

Keeping it real...can you believe all the weeds?  Ha ha!  If you remember I was pulling them and came down with poison ivy.  I never made it to the left side of the fire pit.  They are all gone now.

Okay, have you guessed which towel is mine? If you guess Mickey Mouse you are right!!!  #lovemickeymouse

Hope you are having a good week....

A Magical Harry Potter Party

Hello there and happy Monday!  I hope all is well with everyone.

Last Tuesday night Brooke and Brad hosted "A Magical Harry Potter Party".  They have sold their home so they wanted to have one last "fun time" before they moved.

We  had so much fun!  Seriously!!!  Now keep in mind the guys aren't really into Harry Potter like the girls are but they were really good sports.

Brooke and Brad did a great job with the decorations.  She found the printables on line.

I was rushing to take photos before we ate dinner and I forgot to take a photo of Harry Potter's owl Hedwig.

Brad came up with the idea of the letters.   I thought it was a great idea.

Ms. A and Sweet P loved the signs on the toilet lid.

Brooke made the cake to look like the one Hagrid gave Harry in the first movie "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone".  It was the first time anyone had given Harry a cake or a gift.

She printed out spells, potions and coloring pages for the littles.

I wish this photo would have came out better.  There are actually indentions in the side of the pitcher...maybe you can see the one at the bottom left.  It was perfect for the iced tea.

Brooke found the glasses at her favorite store the Dollar Tree.  She said they were the Dementors.

She also found the black caldron and the skeleton servers there, too.  Great idea to serve the "Gillyweed Salad" in.

She served Stouffers Lasagna for dinner with breadsticks.

Miss A was pretending to cast a spell on me.

Here's my little cutie pie!

Paw Paw's Sweet P!

After dinner we watched the first movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.  Afterwards, we split up in to two teams to play a version of Harry Potter's Jeopardy.  We used the Sorting Hat to determine who was on what team.  The Hufflepuffs and the Gryfindors made up one team and the Ravenclaws and the Slytherins made up the other team. It was so much fun!

Mr. W was so good during the movie.  In fact, he watched most of it.  Except of course when his mom covered his eyes.  Ha!  He didn't like that very much.  :)

He is so darn cute!

We played a Harry Potter version of Jeopardy.  This is the game board Brooke put together.  Each team would take a turn choosing a subject and a number to get their questions.

Sweet P and Miss A were captains of the teams.  It was game on!

We were very serious in trying to come up with the answers to win the points.

Mr. W is being silly with his Uncle Bradley.

Can you tell she got the answer right?

The Hufflepuffs and the Gryfindors won (Ms. A's team).  And believe me it wasn't because the hubs and I knew all of the answers! The prize was a Harry Potter puzzle.

We had a really, really good time.  Even the guys.  What a great way to remember the many fun times we've had at Brooke and Brad's first home.

The next day we all went to Galveston.  I hope to have the photos ready for tomorrow's post.  I believe I took over 400 photos.  It may take a minute or two to sort through and edit them.

Hope you have a wonderful evening....with really nice fall weather!!!

Take care,

xoxoxo
