Road Less Traveled

As the end of 2016 came to a close, I was asking myself what my goals/resolutions were for the new year.  My list for everyone includes good health, happiness, employment, and peace of mind (whatever that entails for you).  I couldn't pinpoint or put into words what I wanted for myself.   I continue to have gratitude for the blessings the good Lord has bestowed upon me and my family, and the supportive husband (both creatively and financially ha!) I have been blessed to share life with.  I have learned that clearly I am not in control of my destiny.  I have relinquished that to the good Lord (I am sure he is shaking his head saying "she finally gets it").  Sometimes I can be stubborn like that. :)

I've read countless blog posts about bloggers own resolutions and nothing "clicked" for me.  I always have things I am trying to improve on about myself.  That NEVER shuts off.  :)

I record "The Talk" everyday because they make me laugh.  A good belly laugh.  I love Sheryl Underwood.  She is so funny!  She always says what everyone is thinking but too afraid to say.  On Wednesday they had Taraji P. Henson (otherwise known as Cookie on Empire) as a guest.  She said something that really resonated with me.  She said something to the effect that we have two choices, doing what we want or not doing it because of fear.  Don't let fear hold you back.  My motto for 2017 "have no fear".  I choose to be fearless.

Those of you that know me well know that I was laid off at the end of July 2015.  So that means I have not spent much time driving in my car listening to the radio.  My friend Nellie and I haven't had the conversations we used to have at work sharing our new "favorite" songs with one another.  So it is no surprise I am late to hear some of the songs you already know about.  :)

Well this morning I was driving in my car to do a favor for someone.  I had the radio on a country music station and Lauren Alaina's song "Road Less Traveled" came on.  This was the first time I have ever heard this song and the timing was perfect.  It was God confirming the feelings I am having.  I no longer want to do what is safe or expected.  I choose the road less traveled.
