Bamboo Sheets

Today I want to talk to you about bamboo sheets.  For over a year now, Brooke and Brad have raved about their bamboo sheets...how much they loved them, they are so soft, etc.  When I went on the trip with Brooke, Brad and his family his mom was saying how much she loved the bamboo sheets she got like Brooke and Brad's.  So I got to thinking, we really should look into these bamboo sheets.   And then I forgot about them.

Fast forward to Father's Day and the girls asked the hubs what he wanted for his gift.  Being the practical person he is he said sheets.  Brooke's reaction "sheets!"  :)  We always ask for things for our home.  That's what we do.  :)  Needless to say they were surprised but they suggested the bamboo sheets and we chose the red set.  We love these sheets!!!  We do not want to switch back to our old sheets.  Really!  I'm not kidding!  They feel luxurious and are so soft.  You will feel so special laying on these sheets.

We chose the 100% Bamboo Viscose Sheets, Super Soft and Cool, Pillowcase Collection.  Let me tell you a little about these sheets.

These sheets are 100% viscose made from bamboo and are so luxurious and soft.  These sheets are environment-friendly and are perfect for those of you with skin allergies.  They have natural wicking abilities that absorb better than other fabrics, especially for those of you who experience frequent night sweats.  The bamboo sheets are to be washed in cold water only, on the delicate cycle with mild detergent and no bleach.  Tumble dry on low heat and remove immediately.

You can purchase these sheets at Wholesale Beddings.  The king sheet set is $89.50.  You get free shipping if your order is $49 and over.  Use the code WB20 and get 20% off of your order.  I am not getting a kickback.  I just want to share this goodness with all of you!

Here is the pic of the red sheets we already have...

we just placed an order for these pretty gold ones....

and we ordered these blue ones for the spare bedroom.

I'd love to hear if you have a favorite set of sheets.  If so, what are they?

Hope you have a wonderful day and an even better weekend!!!

Take care,

Friday Night Fun

The grandkids stayed over on Friday night and Saturday.  We had a really fun time.

I decorated the table using the Mickey Mouse plates and glasses from the Disney Store.  The blue placemats are from Dollar Tree.  Yes, I only paid $1 for each placemat...such a steal and a nice compliment to the plates.  Perfect for outside.

I used the balloon napkin ring holders to hold the napkins in place.  The grandkids were very excited to have a party.  We served them Little Caesar's pepperoni pizza with sweet tea and French vanilla cupcakes with buttercream icing.  Homemade of course!

I love these Mickey Mouse glasses.

Aren't these cupcakes adorable?  I've had the liners and the fun toppers for at least a year or two.

Mr. W loves to have a party!

So do these two!

The trick of the day was to see if you could stand on the floats, do splits or flip each other over.

This was a surprise to see Mr. W on a float.  Just a few weeks ago I tried to get him to float and he would have nothing to do with it.  It's amazing how peer pressure will make you do things you are normally afraid of...he was not going to be left behind!

Do you think he was having any fun?

Sweet P is trying to get her sister to flip her.  She was trying to get everyone to flip her.

After dinner we set up the projector and the screen so we could watch movies outdoors.  We hooked up my laptop to the projector so we could choose movies on Netflix.  For sound, we used our new JBL smaller speakers to have a surround sound.  It was awesome!!!  You could be at the end of the pool (farthest from the projector) and still hear everything.

The kiddos watched Power Rangers for a while before we watched Echo.  After Echo we watched Yours, Mine and Ours.  They had their Mickey Mouse popsicles while floating in the pool.

We roasted marshmallows around the fire pit and made s'mores.  Don't worry the snacks were spaced out over a five hour time frame.  And you know how hungry they get when they swim!

#smoresaresogood

Mr. W was tired so the hubs laid down in bed with him until he fell asleep.  Only the hubs fell asleep with him!  All the while Sweet P is outside waiting for her Paw Paw to come and get her so she can go to bed, too.  We woke him up and he put her to bed.  Ms. A and I finished watching the movie and were done at midnight.  Truth be told, we would have easily watched another movie outside but we didn't want to have to bring all of the stuff in by ourselves.  :)  So the hubs helped us bring everything in and went to bed.  Ms. A and I watched Captain America.  We didn't get to bed until 2:30 a.m.

I love this picture of them sitting on the sofa watching Zootopia.  It's a rare occasion to see them sitting in birth order.  :)

Sweet P put together the Snow White puzzle with a little help from me.  She had it put together in no time at all.  I don't know how she does it.

We had a great time.  But I must say, it was nice and quiet after they went home.  :)

I hope you are having a good week.

Take care,

My Take on a Florida Room

I was recently contacted by the Florida office of Douglas Elliman, the Global Real Estate Firm.  They asked me to inspire homeowners to use their outdoor spaces year round by sharing what I have done with our outdoor space.

I don't know about you, but I consider outdoor patio space to be just as important as the square footage inside of our home.  It is prime real estate just waiting to be decorated and used for everyday life.  Think parties, barbecues, morning coffee.  Do you follow me?

I'm sure most of you already have patio furniture in your space.  The furniture doesn't need to be of a set.  You can mix and match items to work together or you can find an inexpensive set at Big Lots.

You can find beautiful outdoor rugs for under $100 at Sam's Club or Big Lots.  A pretty rug will bring all of the pieces together.  We were in need of a coffee table and stumbled upon this piece at Home Goods.  If you lift the lid, you will find two ice chests.  No more bulky ice chests in the way of a party.  :)

#lovehomegoods

Various plants placed around the patio brings it all together.  Little accessories like lanterns, pillows and candles are the finishing touches.

Outdoor curtains soften the look of the poles.  I have a tutorial here on how we hung ours.

A chandy looks good hanging over the center of the table.    You can finish the look with nice placemats and coordinating napkins.

I picked up this Backyard Bar canvas at Hobby Lobby for around $16.00.  The colors match really well.

#ohhowilovehobbylobby

Can you see the patio/garden lights hanging off of the patio cover?  They are only $9.99 a strand at At Home.

#loveathome

They look really nice at night.

We love spending time out here whether we're eating, grilling, swimming, watching movies or roasting marshmallows.

I hope I have inspired you to think of new ways of using your patio or as they say in Florida, your Florida room!

Take care,

Debbie

Great Tasting Ribs

Over the weekend the hubs made his famous pork ribs.  First  he seasoned the ribs with salt and pepper and placed them on the grill to brown them on both sides.  The ribs stay on the grill for 45 minutes, flipping them every 15 minutes.  Next he puts foil in a pan and places the ribs on top of the foil.  He pours two bottles of Kraft Original BBQ sauce over the ribs.  He adds an inch of water to each bottle to get the remainder of the sauce out.  He covers the ribs with foil leaving a small air pocket on top.  He places them in the oven at 300 degrees for 2 1/2 hours.  They literally fall off the bone and are so good!!!

Weekend Recap

We had a nice and quiet weekend.  It was our 28th anniversary on Saturday.  We celebrated by going out to dinner at Gringo's on Friday afternoon.  I'm always up for some Tex Mex.
#lovequeso

For dessert we had cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory.  I had the red velvet and the hubs had the salted caramel.  They were delicious!

The hubs gave me these beautiful flowers.  The pics do not do them justice.  They are beautiful!!!

We laid low this weekend and watched lots of movies.  Just to name a few:

CIA
Me Before You
The Choice

There were many more...I've forgotten the names!

I ordered my first Christmas gift this weekend.  Crazy 8 had a crazy sale on Friday so I ordered Mr. W lots of cute clothes.  My goal every year is to purchase at least one Christmas gift by the end of July.  This way I can get a start on my shopping so I can finish early.  Gotta have time for all the decorating I do.  :)

Hope you are having a good week.  I can't believe it is already Wednesday and I am just now posting.    Where has this week gone?

Take care,

Our 28th Anniversary

Today the hubs and I celebrate 28 years of marriage.
We were married at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Lake Charles, La.

It was a very hot day...just like today.  :)

I am so happy God had us cross paths to be on this journey through life together.  We have been blessed in so many ways.

This year we are celebrating our anniversary with a staycation.  There is nothing I want more than to be home spending time with my man lounging around the pool, watching movies and celebrating our life together.

Cheers to many more years together!!!

Love you hubs!!!  May we have many, many more years to come!!!

Love,

Debbie

Our Favorite Fruit Dip

I look for occasions and opportunities to make this dip.  I have made it for parties and celebrations at home and I have brought it to Bible Study classes.  The recipe calls for three ingredients and mixes up really quick.

Here's the recipe:

1 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
1 7 oz. jar marshmallow cream
1/2 cup powdered sugar

Blend the ingredients really well and place in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve.  That's it!!!  I love serving it with fresh strawberries or graham crackers.

#lovecreamcheese
#lovestrawberries
#lovethisdip

So if you are looking for something quick, easy and super delicious...this is your dish.  I made it for our 4th of July celebration and it was gone before I had a chance to have some for myself.  I won't name who ate the most of it.  :)  Once you dip your strawberry in...you are done.  It is so hard to move away from the dip.  :)

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Take care,

Debbie

A Friend's Office Makeover

A friend of mine, Kim, redid her office and was kind enough to let me take some photos to share with  you.

#loveofficemakeovers

I love all of the sayings on the wall.

Something we all need to remember...dreams are free.

The desk was originally a solid cream color, the same as the top.  She painted some of it black to match the credenza behind her desk.

I love her new office.  I imagine it will inspire her for days to come.

I am hoping my MIL is inspired by this makeover to move forward with her own office makeover.  :)

Have a great day!
